The Best Way to Quit Smoking: Gradual or Sudden?

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I want to quit smoking again. I already failed 3 times, and I don't want to fail again. However, I know that I already need help since it starts to drive me crazy. Some may say that quit smoking only requires self-discipline and full determination, and just stop right away. Well, I think it's more than that which is why I am searching for the best way to quit smoking. Is it gradual or sudden?

According to what I have read, gradual quit smoking is the best approach. This is because the addiction of nicotine is now in a smoker's body, and nicotine is the most addictive of all the addictive substances ever known. To quit smoking, the smoker should remove the excess amount of nicotine from his body and it is not easy to do that. Sometimes, that person may nicotine replacement therapies to prevent him from experiencing cravings once he quit smoking.

But of course, it is still possible to do a quit smoking all of a sudden . However, he needs to be prepared to handle severe withdrawal symptoms such as trembling when he sees someone smoking. He will need a lot of dedication and willpower to fight temptation. Otherwise, he will go back to smoking again and again. This is why it is also being advised to consult a doctor first so that he can guide you on how to quit smoking permanently.

In my case, I tried both gradual and sudden but still failed. But I think that gradual quit smoking is the best way. Unfortunately, I smoked again after less than 4 days of quitting. I must admit, I am still smoking on an average of 5 sticks a day, but I will try my best to gradually erase it from my system.

I will be very strict in counting the my daily consumed cigarettes, and will plan how to reduce them eventually to zero.

I want to quit smoking again

Yes, I want to quit smoking again. Actually, this is my 4th attempt and the last one was 10 years ago. I am now 43, and I know it's time to be serious about it. If you have not yet tried smoking, it will be difficult for you to understand why it is hard to quit smoking. But if you have been smoking for years and you want to quit like me, then welcome to the club.

Anyway, I started to smoke cigarettes when I was 16. That time, I was a street vendor selling cigarettes. My father is a heavy smoker, and I am helping my family through cigarette selling. Although it was wrong, my father did not stop me from smoking cigarettes but gave me some advises especially the bad effects of smoking.

But since he is also smoking, it was hard for him to convince me to stop and just keep on reminding me all the hazards of smoking. That time, I remember I smoke around 5 sticks a day and this increased gradually. Although there were people who advised me to stop, I did not bother to listen.

The first time I had a quit smoking plan was in 1992. This was when I plan to review for the board exams, and I want to be physically fit during the entire review classes. I remember that I stopped smoking instantly even without telling anyone, as I was very inspired to pass the board exams. Unfortunately, the board exams did not pursue since I lacked some legal documents. When the the examination day came, I went back to smoking.

The second time I decided to quit smoking was when I got married. I realized I now have to be responsible and quitting cigarette smoking is a good trait. However, the temptation was very tough to resist since almost all my co-employees and bosses are smokers. But of course, I don't blame them. I know it is me who should be strong enough to avoid being tempted.

The third and last time was when I was hospitalized due to pneumonia. The doctor said that I have been smoking too long, and my body now is starting to feel the bad effects of smoking. But then, I think I am now addictive to smoking and to quit smoking will be a very hard task.

However, I tried to regulate it and have a limit to my bad habit. I buy a pack every other day and I try to finish it within 2 days. At first, I thought it was effective since I am closely monitoring how many sticks of cigarettes I am consuming. But then, I realized it makes me even harder since I always have a stock on my pocket.

This time, I know that I already need help. Although some may say that discipline is the key to quit smoking, I think it is the resistance to temptation that is the hardest part. This is now what I am working so hard.

Right now, I am just happy that it has been 72 hours since I last smoke. I know the battle has just began, but I know I should be strong enough since I really want to quit smoking for good.

I finally met Marhgil Macuha in person

If you are a Filipino blogger or aspiring to be one, then you should meet the successful ones so you can be inspired more. I have been blogging for two years, and I must admit that I would like to meet some of them. This is why I felt very honored when I finally met Marhgil Macuha in person. In case you don't know him, he is the blogger behind Macuha.com who is very successful in making money online from Google Adsense.

This happened last Saturday when I attended the first blogging event held at SM Lipa, Batangas, which is very near to our place. Actually, the event is a dream come true for JR Cantos of WowBatangas.com since his aim is to have a grand eyeball for Batangueno bloggers.

Anyway, I had a short talk with Marhgil and I noticed that he is very humble and a down-to-earth person. He wears simple clothes and talks softly. I can also say that he is really enjoying his blogging career and very helpful to his fellow Filipino bloggers. In fact, he even shared some tips on how to make money online when he spoke on the stage.

But of course, it is also my pleasure to meet Itot for the first time who is also a fellow Pinoy blogger and very close to my heart.

With this, thank you for your time and I hope we can meet again.

My Blog is on the First Page of Google

Yes, my dear readers. I am happy to announced that my blog is on the first page of Google, and I am still glad although it was only in the Philippines. But before you raise your eyebrows, let me explain further.

Actually, it is my Father Blogger dot Com blog I am referring to and not this one. I noticed this when I signed-in my account at Blogger.com this morning to create this personal blog. Since it has been a long time that I visited my Blogger account, I decided to search the keyword blogger at Google Philippines.

I was surprised to see that my main blog appeared on the fifth slot, in which the first three slots went to the Blogger and Blogspot sites. The fourth one went to Pinoy Blogger Directory but currently has a problem, and they are still fixing it.

Therefore, every Filipino who will sign up or even start a blog using Blogger will notice my blog. They may visit it eventually since it also contains some blogging tips, which I mentioned about it on my tag line.

Anyway, I have yet to check my traffic to see if there were really visitors from Google Philippines who came to my blog using the keyword blogger.

Just the same, I just hope my own set of blogging tips can really help them. But of course, I also hope that my blog will stay there for a long time.

Angel Cuala: Welcome to my Personal Blog

Hello everyone, and welcome to my personal blog. Although I have been blogging for more than two years, it's only now that I decide to have a personal blog. This means I will be blogging here about the things that I don't usually do on my other blogs.

People who know me well enough knows that I am talkative, jolly, and full of life. I never run out of stories to share, and can easily be friends with strangers. This is why I think it's now time to be more of myself, which I will do on this blog.

Here, you can read almost from anything to everything. Fellow bloggers who followed my blogging career but never met me, will know me better through this blog and I hope that they will not change and will still follow me here. It took a while for me to decide to have a personal blog since I am more of a talkative type with regards to things I really want to say.

But then, I suppose there's nothing more to hide now since almost all about my life has been exposed on my other blogs, as well as the interviews to me.

With this, I would like to welcome you all to my personal blog.

Mabuhay!
