While there are still a lot of affected places in Luzon due to Ondoy that has not yet been reached by relief operation, another potential storm is coming and was named Pepeng. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (or PAGASA) learned that Pepeng may arrived in the towns of Aurora and Isabela by Saturday noon, and at Mt. Province by Saturday night.
But according to PAGASA Alert, Pepeng has now a maximum winds of 195 kph and may reach to 230 kph which is stronger than Ondoy. The Philippine government don't want to take chances and immediately placed 8 provinces and 2 islands under storm signal number 1. However, Catanduanes in the Bicol region is now under storm signal number 2.
With this, National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr had meeting with local officials to warn the public of the possibilities of being evacuated and will explain the explain the consequences if they refuse to leave. However, children and minors who cannot decide for themselves will be forcibly taken for safety.
